Title

The Twitter surge #YesAllWomen is a useless weapon against endemic misogyny

Subject

#YesAllWomen, misogyny, Isla Vista massacre, twitter

Description

Fionolo Meredith sympathizes with the angry and pain behind the #YesAllWomen movements. However, Meredith argues the hashtag is useless against endemic misogyny. Meredith believes the #YesAllWomen movement will be forgotten when another controversial event occurs. Another issue according to Meredith is authenticity. Meredith says there is not a way of validate the claims made on Twitter about misogyny. Meredith applies that some reported incidents of misogyny are trivial to others. She argues the hashtag helps to maintain the status quo because it has a neutralizing effect. The user has not changed any thing according to Meredith.
