After the Pandemic
At the same time that theatre has a long history of adapting to pandemics, pandemics, so too, have a track record of altering tomorrow’s performances. Looking forward, how will theatre transform following the COVID-19 pandemic? Of the newly created performance styles and delivery methods, which will become our modern day Greek amphitheater that will forever change theatre, and which will be seen as pandemic novelties to be quickly forgotten? Only time will tell. One thing is clear, the nature of theatre- its desire to tell stories and provide an emotional outlet for both the performers and the audience- will remain at its heart, just like throughout the past 2500 years of history.
