Who is Opportunity?

Mars Exploration Rover (MER) Opportunity launched in 2003. The Rover was fully equipped to act as a robotic geologist on the planet Mars. NASA scientists developed Opportunity for a 90-day mission. 14 years later Opportunity was still exploring the surface of the red planet and had made a number of discoveries including finding evidence that portions of Mars had once contained water and could have supported life.
