The Fight to Save Undershaw
2010-2012
In 2010, the organization that owned Undershaw, Fosseway Limited, announced plans to convert the house into a block of apartments. The Undershaw Preservation Trust was formed to help to fight to save Undershaw, and in 2012 a High Court decided overturned the plans for Undershaw's renovation. However, this decision left Undershaw's future uncertain.
2013-present
In 2013, Undershaw was once again on the market. This time, it was purchased by the DFN Charitable Foundation, with plans to convert it into another building for Stepping Stones School. Although the Undershaw Preservation Trust was initially pleased with this plan, they became unhappy when they saw the modern extension that the foundation planned to add on to the house. In August of 2015, a High Court stopped renovation on Undershaw pending a review, halting the construction that the DFN Charitable Foundation had already begun.
