A crucial element to the #blacklivesmatter movement is it use of social media to facilitate organizing and promotion of its agenda and cause. Twitter hashtags are the backbone of their public awareness campaign and slogan generation. Some major examples of well-known hashtags from the movement include--but are not limited to--#Icantbreathe, #nojusticenopeace, #IamTrayvon, #handsupdontshoot.
