Mutual Aid Theory
The theory behind Mutual Aid is distinct from a charity or other non-for-profit models. It emphasizes horizontal decision making and affinity building. As such, while no one is required to meet any qualifications in order to receive aid, participants in mutual aid are encouraged to both provide for their neighbors in whatever ways they can while also receiving any assistance they may themselves need. This page includes items that explain or illustrate the theory of mutual aid for audiences both experienced and new to mutual aid practice.
