The efforts of mutual aid networks have not gone unnoticed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Large publications such as the New Yorker and NPR as well as more local publications have researched and promoted mutual aid organizing. The movement has not been without some criticisms: less for the theory than the practice. Nevertheless, it is important for individuals to be aware of both of the benefits and shortcomings of mutual aid, and oftentimes third parties are best situated to provide a more objective perspective.
